THE STORY

Castlevania Puzzle: Encore of the Night is a Castlevania puzzle game featuring Alucard and other cast members of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night made for iOS. It retells the story of the original Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It features an RPG system and touched up sprites. The game was released on iOS on July 21, 2010 and for Windows Phone on January 18, 2011

HOW DOES THE GAME LIVE UP TO IT’S EXPLANATION/BOX ART?  (10/10)

It doesn’t lie. It is a retelling of  Symphony of the night in puzzle mode. There isn’t a box to rate.. SO FULL 10!

HOW IS THE GAME PLAY? ( 8/10)

At first it’s pretty boring. It’s just another PUZZLE RPG. If you’ve never played one. You move through your story line and every time there is an enemy encounter it goes into puzzle mode, like an RPG.

Once in the puzzle fight. If you haven’t equipped items or spells you can’t use them. If you have equipped items, you can carry 4 in your quick choice in battle. If you use an item it will add to the pieces falling. So if you don’t bust the colors quickly you won’t get the item. If you use spells they do various things. Either give you life instantly, or knock out certain colors of blocks to help out.

It has the normal style puzzler multiplayer stuff. If you knock out some sweet combos it will add crap blocks to the enemies side and vice versa.

The game is set up in the castle of SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT from Ps1/Sega Saturn then later as an unlockable in PSP’s  the dracula X chronicles (later DLC on xbox360/ps3). It’s not the whole castle but it moves you through where you will remember the classic map, if you played the original. –

BUT, you move room to room where you get items and power ups to equip to have more health and magic points in puzzle battle.

It’s a little clunky to learn at the start which makes it a bit tedious, but if you fight through that, it’s a fun play through.

HOW DOES THE GAME LIVE UP TO IT’S GENRE? (10/10)

Well it doesn’t really fit in the Castlevania Franchise (even though it does). It’s not your normal plat-forming piece of genius, or 3D rendered ‘I’m not sure if I like this version at all but I am going to play it anyway’.

It’s a puzzler. So if you ever played Capcom’s Puzzle Fighter , Puzzle Quest, or any other sort of puzzle RPG. It falls in that ranking area. Or, any sort of puzzle style.

If you like puzzle games and have a phone, you should probably give it a hoot.

The Game ‘OVER’ ALL? (93%)

This was a great out and about game to play, or when I had some extreme downtime to goof off.

It was enjoyable to play through the castle again, even in a puzzle game. Since I played Symphony of the Night so much, I could picture what was actually in each room. (Yeah… I played it that much)

Downfalls that aren’t really downfalls.

COLLECTABLES FOR ULTIMATE FINISH.

If you play this and you are getting all the cards. I will tell you that the Ace of Skulls comes from the DoDo bird. I got 649 Hamburgers before I got the drop. This means…. I killed 650 DoDo Birds.

……………….. I had to get the achievement.

……………… Don’t judge me.

. ……………….. Have a good day and thanks for reading!
